plies coumbus

As we mentioned before, Plies arrived to the concert late. The crowd was depleted and restless. The promoters had asked Plies to do a clean show because of all the youth that was in attendance. Plies proceeded to ask the crowd whether they wanted a clean show or the explicit show. Take a look at the photos a guess which show the audience chose.

New Artist>>>Made in the Midwest: DJ B-Nunn

This is a new posting category highlighting local artist, designers, models, writers, etc. All born in Ohio, or the surrounding region. But without further ado:

bnun2bnun1

In hip hop the DJ usually maintains a quiet demeanor, plays the background, and sets the mood for parties, there are some exceptions Flex, Clue, DJ Drama, but those are few and far between. Even in those instances, no one really takes the swagger of the rapper and embodies it in the form of a DJ. Until now; you can here it in his voice, and the electricity is in his movements that B-Nunn is the #1 DJ in the streets. It is the swagger reserved for the rapper that B-Nunn embodies that makes him unique. Imagine Camron as a DJ and you get B-Nunn. With plenty of skills on the turntables, he is not afraid to tell you how good he is, and then prove it. Just check his SMOKIN PURPLE Mixtape; it is a mix of the hottest songs from unsigned artist, blended together in a smooth, transient flow. Listening to the mixtape is like smoking weed in a drop top on a Sunday. Watch out for him because DJ B-Nunn is on the rise.

TOURKAYVIN

It’s around 9PM, and I’m walking north on High, navigating my way through the hordes of people out and about during the March gallery hop. I’m to go to the first performance of the Fly.Union store tour at Sole Classic, a sneaker boutique in the short north. The boutique itself is posh to say the least and my wardrobe is feeling a little insecure.

gnarls

Gnarls Barkley, the Grammy-winning duo and genre-wrecking partnership of artist/producer Danger Mouse and soul sensation Cee-Lo, will release their new album “The Odd Couple” a couple of weeks early.

Initially slated for an April 8th release, “The Odd Couple” will now be available at various online and physical music retailers across the week of March 18th. Sources say this mainly because the groups material had been leaked onto the internet making it accessable to bootleggers.

50 Cent has never paid Young Buck his Roylties!!!

buck

There may be beef between 50 Cent and Young Buck in the near future. In a recent interview with popular internet magazine YoRaps.com, Young Buck claims that he’s not being paid royalties by 50’s label.

This is what Young Buck had to say…….

“A lot of artists don’t recoup off of albums, so a lot of times they never get to see the backend from that project. I’m the only artist on G-Unit that ever recouped off of an album. Meaning I went off on this “Buck The World” project not owing Interscope and G-Unit sh*t, I can say that much.

I’m still waiting on a royalty check period. I never seen a royalty check since I’ve been signed with G-Unit … I’ve never in my career cashed a royalty check, how you like that? Put that one in big black letters n*gga!”

SANTANA CAUGHT WITH HOLLOWS,BLUNTS, AND CANDY WRAPPERS??? WDF…LOL

JUELZ

Juelz Santana is scheduled to appear in New Jersey Municipal Court today (Mar. 12) after being arrested last week when police pulled him over for driving with a suspended license and discovered hollow-point bullets and marijuana in his car.

New York’s Daily News has reported that Santana, whose real name is LaRon James, was pulled over in his Bentley near the entrance of his home in Teaneck’s gated Glenpointe community.

“This is bullsh*t,” the Dipset rapper yelled after being pulled over, according to officer John Abraham.

As he approached the vehicle Abraham reportedly smelled marijuana, and later spied a green leafy substance on the car’s center console in addition to Dutch Master and White Owl cigars and marijuana roaches.

Police also discovered 29 hollow-point bullets wrapped in a sock and $19,500 rolled in small bundles that were stashed in a plastic bag full of hundreds of Jolly Rancher candies. A marijuana-laced, hand-rolled cigar was also discovered inside Santana’s shoe.

Officers also recovered a sandwich bag stuffed with marijuana on the backseat of their cruiser, where Juelz sat after being arrested.

LIBBEY IN THE FINAL 4!!!

LIBBEY

When he was attending Scott High School in the mid 1960s, Libbey basketball coach Leroy Bates did not make the Bulldog basketball team. So he became a wrestler. Thus it is somewhat ironic that the next barrier on the state basketball tournament trail for Bates’ fourth-ranked Cowboys (23-2) is a school that has become famous in Ohio and nationally for its wrestling prowess.

At St. Paris Graham in the southwest corner of the state, mats come first in the winter, nets second. The Falcons have won 10 state wrestling titles and, this year, under coach Jeff Jordan, a four-time individual state champion at Graham (1980-83), recently captured their eighth straight Division II championship. And, they are the No. 1 ranked prep wrestling program in the nation. But the rural St. Paris school community in Champaign County has also found some room in its hearts to embrace its unbeaten and fifth-ranked basketball team, which is making its first trip to Columbus for a state semifinal. Libbey will face Graham (26-0) in tomorrow’s 10:45 a.m. D-II state semifinal at Value City Arena. That game kicks off the 86th annual boys state basketball tournament.

Before this season Graham had won only one district title in boys basketball. That came in 1972, when it lost in the regional semifinals. Coach Brook Cupps’ youthful Falcon starting lineup includes only one senior, 6-2 forward Travis Crooks, who averages 6.7 points per game. Joining Crooks are three juniors - 6-2 guard Josh Schuler (19.7 points), 6-2 guard Austin Jones (10.8 points) and 6-0 guard Ben Rosenberger (7.3 points) - and 6-3 sophomore forward Ethan Ward (10.7 points), who is the team’s top rebounder. The lead sub is another sophomore, 6-1 forward Casey Crable. Schuler and Jones are third-year starters. “I think some of the success of the wrestling team has carried over to our guys,” Cupps said. “They recognize all the work the wrestlers put in and the payout they have gotten from that work. “We’re a pretty young team and we started playing pretty good at the end of last season. Our guys played about 70 or 80 games last summer and we scrimmaged some good teams like Dayton Dunbar and [Huber Heights] Wayne and [Cincinnati] St. Xavier. The kids started to believe they could compete with that caliber of competition.” As Graham has done in wrestling - surpassing perennial D-I state power Lakewood St. Edward in the ratings - Libbey, which this year dropped to Division II for the first time, is trying to make a case as Ohio’s best basketball team, regardless of classification.

The Cowboys have already beaten two of the four teams who have reached the D-I state semifinals, toppling St. Ed 72-58 in January in a game played at Value City Arena, and beating City League foe Whitmer twice, by counts of 72-39 and 78-37. The Cowboys are led by 6-5, Ohio State-bound All-American William Buford (22.6 points), who was named D-II state co-player of the year on Monday along with future Buckeyes teammate B.J. Mullens, a 7-1 center from Canal Winchester. Graham beat Winchester 64-50 in the regional semifinals. Rounding out Libbey’s usual all-senior starting five are 6-6 forward Julius Wells (11.7 points), 6-3 guard Brad Sandridge (11.3 points), 6-5 forward Lance Jones (5.6 points), and 6-3 guard Tony Brown (8.4 points). The top sub has been senior Brad Burton. With Libbey and Whitmer reaching the semifinals in their respective divisions, this is the first time two City League schools have made the state semifinals in the same season. The closest the CL ever came to having two teams reach Columbus previously was in 1984 when Scott made the Class AAA semis and former league member Cardinal Stritch lost to Willard in a Class AA regional final.

Whitmer (20-5) will close the semifinals with an 8:30 p.m. matchup against Newark (22-4) on Friday. The Panthers’ only other final-four appearance came in 1987 under coach Rick Kaifas. Whitmer, then a member of the now-defunct Great Lakes League, lost 54-49 to Canton McKinley at the University of Dayton that year.

OOOPS MY BAD IT WAS AN ACCIDENT…SAYS REMY MA…WE SAY FIRE YO DAMN LAWYER FOR THIS ONE…LOL

remy

Makeda Barnes-Joseph was shot last July outside a New York club after attending a mutual friend’s party. The incident was allegedly sparked when Remy discovered $2,000 missing from her purse and accused the victim of stealing the money.Rem’s lawyer Ivan Fisher depicted the shooting as a “tragic accident” as the trial began in Manhattan’s state Supreme Court, according to the Associated Press.

Fisher said the rapper (born Remy Smith) and Barnes-Joseph struggled over the gun and it went off accidentally, critically injuring Barnes-Joseph.

This is the first time Remy’s version of events has been made public. Up to this point, she hadn’t even admitted to doing the shooting.

The prosecution paints a different picture.

Attorney for Barnes-Joesph, Jason Berland, said an angry Remy accused the shooting victim of stealing $2,000 from her purse, and shot her twice in the abdomen with a .45 caliber gun. He claims Remy then fled the scene in a Cadillac Escalade and rammed into a parked car up the street.  Berland said Remy then ditched the SUV and hid out at a friend’s house. She did not call the police or summon medical help.

But Fisher said Barnes-Joseph’s own story changed when she filed a $20 million lawsuit against Remy. That suit has since been withdrawn. The prosecution will have to make its case without the DNA evidence it had been banking on.

After searching the victim’s car for evidence pointing to Remy in the shooting, nothing useful was found, according to Fisher.

“They were looking in the victim’s car for evidence of blood. Now I ask you, since my client wasn’t shot and the victim was, whose blood do you think it was? As long as the prosecution keeps thinking like this, we might win this case,” Fisher said.

If convicted Remy could face as much as 25 years in prison.

Sports Fans….Brett Favre Calls It Quits!!!!!!

brett

Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has decided to retire.

“I know I can still play, but it’s like I told my wife, I’m just tired mentally. I’m just tired,” Favre, a 17-year veteran and three-time NFL MVP, told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen in a voice mail message.

“If I felt like coming back — and Deanna [his wife] and I talked about this — the only way for me to be successful would be to win a Super Bowl. To go to the Super Bowl and lose, would almost be worse than anything else. Anything less than a Super Bowl win would be unsuccessful,” Favre said in the message.

TARTA offers free rides for March 4 primary

TARTA

Fares will be waived on all Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority and Toledo Area Regional Paratransit Service buses and vans on March 4 to encourage people to vote in the primary election that day, the transit authority has announced.

A staff recommendation to waive fares that day was approved by TARTA’s board of trustees. James Gee, the transit authority’s general manager, said it probably will cost the agency between $5,000 and $6,000 in lost fares.

“We genuinely hope voters will use this service and exercise their right as American citizens to select candidates and approve or reject ballot issues,” Mr. Gee said. “We’ll evaluate the results of this test and, if it is successful, we anticipate asking the board to approve a similar free-ride program for the presidential election on Nov. 4.”

TARTA carries about 18,000 riders on its regular routes on normal weekdays, and about 500 people a day ride TARPS. Mr. Gee said no discount will be provided to weekly or monthly passholders, nor to school boards that provide bus passes to their students.

The transit authority operates in Toledo, Ottawa Hills, Rossford, Perrysburg, Maumee, Waterville, Sylvania, Sylvania Township, and Spencer Township.

Kanye and His Fiance Denied Entry Into Fashion Show

Kanyedenied

Kanye and Alexis were denied entrance to a fashion show for designer Nicholas Ghesquirere’s ‘Balenciaga’ in Paris over the weekend. Kanye responded by writing in his blog….

I love the clothes! Lex and I are not there 2 take pictures… I don’t have an album about 2 drop… my tour is sold out… I love fashion and this is one of the funnest things we can make time for! I totally love and respect any designer that won’t let me come 2 there show… it’s their show… they don’t owe me anything…Balenciaga is one of the illest lines right now and I don’t feel any type of way about not getting in!
I never use my blog 2 clear stuff up… but this is so close 2 my heart I had 2 say something… Anyone saying something negative has it wrong, they’ve got me wrong… I just want 2 make great art on every level and fashion shows are one of the best forms of art in the world. Thank you Paris again for the inspiration!!!

THE GAME

Sunday evening, March 2nd,  hip hop star The Game turned himself in to begin serving a 60-day jail sentence. The charges stem from a 2007 basketball game at the Rita Walters Educational Learning Complex in Compton.
