Off Da Glass

Orish Grinstead, a founding member of R-&-B group 7-0-2, died of kidney failure last Sunday (April 20th) in her Las Vegas home. She was 27 years old. The singer was also suffering from several other medical issues, including cancer. According to sources close to Grinstead, she had been ill for quite some time, and her death was not a surprise. Grinstead founded the Las Vegas trio with her twin sister Irish and older sister Lameisha in the early ’90s. She left the group and was replaced by Kameelah Williams, before returning when Williams left to have a baby. The trio’s last disc was 2003’s Star.

Gucci Mane came to the Glass City to help Hutch Daddy Dolla of Hot 97-3 celebrate his 1 year anniversary in the TOL. Depending on who you spoke to, the event was unprecedented. By 11:00pm there were over 1,000 people outside in the parking lot anxiously waiting to get in to see Mr. So Icy. Unfortunately, by midnight the Toledo Police Department had closed the doors of Gator’s Nightclub preventing individuals from entering the building. This left approximately 2,000 people outside. Not sure if you heard about this, odds are you did. But it perplexes us here at offdaglass that in the year 2008 with Pentium chips, War profitering and another Bush Adminestration coming toa close that racism still exists. . WAIT it doesn’t perplex us that the NYPD and it’s support judicial system the state supreme court would acquit. Black America has been no stranger to the profiling of the justice system and its tendency to favor its henchmen over those they are sworn to protect and serve . Lets face it we are not where we want to be as a people (meaning as a species) and our justice system is a reflection of that.

Yea you might not like the style, but with gas costing an arm and a leg the world needs this. A company in Nice, France called Motor Developement International, the guys who made the formula one engine, just came out with a car that runs on compressed air that pushes the pistons . . . lets let him explain it. But this cars drives as fast if not faster than yours and as far as yours. Lets just hope the big Auto Companies and Gas Giants dont buy up all the patents and tuck them away in the basement until we run out of gas like they did the electric car.

SOOOO. . . .  it goes like this, Ms. Pamela Newton a woman afflicted by Sickle Cell Anemia for 15 years is now free of it. We know alot of people with this disorder and we just have one question.  Why are we just now hearing about this ? Why hasn’t the media covered this yet ? Well R.I.P. BET news division, which has been replaced by a blog focused on celeb health issues,  so much for news that affects us.

 Anyway we don’t wanna get all pretentious, we did just blog about miss rap supreme, but this is frustrating to say the least. They were very cryptic about the details but she went from having months to live to throwing out her 15 daily meds and pain free through an experimental bone marrow transplant at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Clinical trials will be starting soon

LaLa and Carmello spoke to people.com about the Denver nugget forward’s DUI arrest and, more importantly recent news on the internet that when called to pick up baby daddy from the Denver Police Station she refused to pick him up . . lmao. “Carmelo was pulled over late Sunday night on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol,” said Anthony’s lawyer Dan Recht in a statement. “We are aware of the situation involving Carmelo Anthony,” said Nuggets vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien in a prepared statement. “We are currently gathering information and we will have no further comment at this time.”  Let me translate for those of you who don’t speak covering our ass. The star forward for the denver nuggets was arrested monday morning because he ” failed to drive in a single lane” Can successful black men stop getting locked up now ? I mean we know it was probably your worst game EVER, you’re under alot of stress lately blah blah blah call a cab man you’re rich its like $30 . . . on second thought if we palyed as bad as you did we would probably tip a few back as well but have LALA pick that ass up
